Quotes & Notes
During 1960, Alan Ayckbourn's career was predominantly concentrated on acting at Theatre in the Round at the Library Theatre, Scarborough. He was part of the acting company in both the summer and winter seasons and his playwriting was limited to one show, Dad's Tale, during the winter season. The Sacrifice of the Isaac was performed in a double-bill with The Way of the Cross by Harry Gheon. It was performed during Easter 1960, presumably as part of a Studio Theatre Ltd tour although no further details are known about precisely when or where it was performed.
Details of the performance only came to light in 2022 as part of the acquisition of The Rodney Wood Collection as part of the Ayckbourn Archive held at the Northwick Institute for Archives at the University of York.
