Quotes & Notes

Much Ado About Nothing was an abridged recording of Shakespeare's play recorded as part of the Living Shakespeare series in 1964. This series of mono vinyl LPs featured famous actors in a variety of Shakespeare's plays and was published by Odham's Books Ltd.

Although the precise date of the recording is not known, Alan Ayckbourn recalled the production when it was brought to the attention of the website by Mike Linham during September 2013.

"I remember the production of Much Ado… well. It Starred Richard Johnston and Pauline Jameson as Benedick and Beatrice, Annette Crosbie as Hero and Robin Phillips as Claudio. It was directed by John Hale and I played a messenger with one small speech and did crowd voices. I wasn't awfully good I seem to recall."
Alan Ayckbourn, 16 September 2013
